The student can explain the typical space planning and structural solutions and main building materials of a single family house.
The student is able to identify the key structures, HVAC and electrical systems and components in a building, and explain their operating principles and use their symbols and terms.
The student can draw a plan of a simple building and place the HVAC and electrical components on it using a CAD tool.

Content

Building design (4 ECTS): Space planning and structural solutions and main building materials of a single family house. The process and parties of a construction project, the duties of the designer and other parties: legislation, regulations and instructions. The building structural elements, constructions and materials, insulation.

CAD (4 ECTS): Construction, HVAC systems and electrical drawings. Major rules governing scaled representation of an object, and computer applications used for modelling. CAD models produced by third parties of a particular planning process. Planes and cross sections according to instructions with the help of models and examples.

HVAC (3 ECTS): Basis of the planning, implementation and operation of HVAC systems in single family houses. Demand and main components of ventilation.

Electrical engineering (4 ECTS): Central concepts of electrical engineering, principles of safe structure and protection of electrical devices.
