Objective

The student knows the physical and chemical fundamentals of electroplating and autocatalytic plating. He/she knows the constitution of the most common plating baths and the task of each component. The student knows the equipment and function of plating lines. The student is able to plan how components should be plated and can define the relevant parameters. He/she knows the operations of electroplating lines. The student is able to measure the coating thickness with relevant methods.
The student can describe how coatings are formed from the vapour phase. He or she can define the factors affecting the coating properties. He or she can outline the most common vapour-phase deposition methods. The student can present the potential applications and the limitations of vapour-phase deposition.
The student knows the basics of statistical mathematics.
