Objective

Based on the history of podiatry and podiatry education, students identify fundamental development needs of the profession. They know how to describe the knowledge and value foundation, core competence areas and central concepts of podiatry and acts according to them. Students are able to explain how the podiatric services have been organised, and they participate in developing these services. Students are aware of the laws and acts guiding their work and the ethical rules concerning podiatry and act according to them in client service. They identify the subcategories of quality podiatry and are committed to developing them as part of their own development as experts. Students can name the international networks of their field and utilise them in their studies and work. They know how to apply the subcategories of inner health control to client work.

Students are able to explain the interactions of the structure and functions of the musculoskeletal system by describing the properties of tissues. They use professional terms and concepts relating to the musculoskeletal system. Students identify the bones of the skeleton and the details of lower extremity bones. They are able to explain the structures and functions of lower extremity joints. Students identify the key structures of the vertebral column and explain their roles. They identify thoracic bones. Students describe the layered structure of the skin and the roles of the structures of the layers.
