Orientative Studies and Study Skills (5 ECTS)

Learning outcomes

The student will be familiar with her/his study environment in the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences and knows the structure, key guidelines, rules and study practices of the Degree Program. The student will be familiar with the structure of the curriculum and know how to plan his/her studies and the progress of the studies.
The student will recognize his/her strengths and development targets, and know how to develop his/her learning and studying skills.

Content

Personal studying skills
The structure and content of the curricula in the Degree Program of Conservation, the physical and social study environment in the Arabia Campus and other degree programs in the campus.
Student services, for example Student Affairs Office, student social services
Library, IT services

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The student comprehends the basic idea of the course and has necessary learning skills to start studies. The student understands the meaning of the orientation course for the progress of her/his future studies. The student knows the physical study environment both in his/her own degree program as well as in the whole campus.
