Objective

In the course, the student familiarizes himself with the typical frame systems of a small wooden building, structural types and structural engineering solutions.
After completing the course, the student knows the typical structural solutions used in outer skins and intermediate floors, as well as the basics of heat and humidity technology in buildings.
The student understands what are the important and essential factors in the dimensioning of wooden structures and what are the operating methods of conventional wooden structures.
The student knows how to apply the principles of wood construction in the design of aesthetically, technically, functionally and ecologically sustainable buildings.
The student familiarizes himself with the areas of mathematics that promote the learning of content important to the professional field.

Content

Basic concepts.
Conventional structural systems of wooden buildings and principles of load-bearing structures.
Conventional types of small wooden building construction.
The usual joints of a small wooden building.
Basics of strength theory.
Mathematics; functions, space geometry, spreadsheet applications.

Evaluation scale

0-5

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student masters the content of the course and satisfactorily achieves the Competence Objectives of the course.
The student understands the basics of the subject only a little. There are significant shortcomings in the application of the basics of the subject to tasks.
