Learning outcomes

The student knows the professional characteristics of the media sector and can assess their own potential to work as a media professional. The student knows how to plan their own learning objectives, personal career path and how to present their skills.
They know the principles of sustainable development in the media sector. They can assess the role of the media in promoting sustainable development. They know how ethical principles are taken into account in content production.
The student knows the basic principles, forms and distribution channels of audiovisual storytelling. They can identify and evaluate narratives in different media.
The student is familiar with the main principles of audiovisual content design and is able to use them in practice.

Course will be also the first part of Media and Film Degree programs' student application process. The Degree Program tuition and the student application exam language is Finnish.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student completes the tasks satisfactorily. The student knows some of the competences required in the media sector and can simply plan their own learning and working future.
The student knows the principles of sustainable development and has a limited understanding of the role of the media in promoting them. They know some of the basic principles, forms and distribution channels of audiovisual content and know how to evaluate narratives in different media.
The student knows the main aspects of audiovisual content design and has a limited knowledge of how to use them in their work.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student completes the tasks well. The student has a good understanding of the competence requirements in the media sector and is able to plan their own learning and working future. The student is aware of the principles of sustainable development and is able to assess well the role of the media in promoting them. The student is familiar with the basic principles, forms and distribution channels of audiovisual content and is able to evaluate the content of different media.
The student will have an understanding of the main aspects of audiovisual content design and is able to apply them in their own work.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student performs the tasks with excellence and applies the knowledge gained. The student has a detailed knowledge of the competences required in the media sector and is able to plan their own learning and working future well.
The student knows the principles of sustainable development and is able to assess the role of the media in promoting them. The student knows the basic principles, forms and distribution channels of audiovisual narrative and is able to evaluate narrative in different media fluently.
The student knows the aspects of audiovisual content design and is able to apply them in a variety of ways in their own work.
