Study Guide

Objective

The students can justify, evaluate and choose appropriate approaches and methods with which the work and work communities can be researched and developed in their field of education. They identify the starting points and concepts of key research and development methods used in their field. The students are able to collect appropriate research and development data and have the basic abilities to process and analyse the data as well as to argue and report the results.

Content

Key research and development methods in one's professional field (e.g. evaluation study, action research, case study, qualitative and quantitative research). Research material acquisition, processing and analysis. Reporting, presenting and utilizing the results.

Student workload

Kurssin loppuseminaariin osallistuminen on pakollista siinä mielessä, että sieltä poissaolo on korvattava tehtävällä. Myös kurssin ensimmäisellä kerralla on tärkeää olla paikalla. Silloin aloitetaan tekemään kurssin pääsuoritteena olevaa kehityssuunnitelmaa ja muodostetaan ryhmät sen tekemistä varten.

Assessment methods and criteria

Kurssin arvosana määräytyy pienryhmissä tehtävän kehityssuunnitelman pohjalta. Arvosanan saadakseen jokaisen opiskelijan pitää myös suorittaa hyväksytysti kaksi kurssin aikana esiteltävää aineistonanalysointitehtävää.
