Tavoitteet

Knowledge and understanding
- Students will learn how to read dimensions and shape from drawing by the 3rd projection method, and to operate 3DCAD SolidWorks to build simple 3D models and assemble few parts, making simple mechanism such as piston crank, Geneva stop mechanism. In addition, students will gain basic knowledge of how to manufacture using 3D printer?

Skills
- Students will be able to use 3DCAD through the exercise with giving online text and free modeling contest. They will be able to convert the 3D parts files to upload 3D printer format, and to manufacture and assemble them reality. They will also be able to learn basic skills to get a qualification of 3DCAD, what is called CSWA (Certification of SolidWorks Association).

Exercise and Manufacturing
- Based on exercise, students will learn how to model, assemble, and manufacture skills with SolidWorks.

Sisältö

1. Introduction to basic operation and features on SolidWorks. (Work)
2. Practicing basic skills to build simple models using sketch, extrude and revolve.
3. Practicing effective modeling skills using sketch and feature command menu.
4. Checking the accuracy of the models using mass property and measure tool.
5. Enhancing the basic skill by free modeling whatever you want to build; free modeling includes not only products but also anime characters.
6. Practicing basic skills to assemble a few simple models, simple mechanism; piston crank, Geneva Stop mechanism, and so on.
7. Converting the parts files into 3D printer format, manufacturing the Geneva Stop mechanism, and assembling Geneva stop mechanism.

Esitietovaatimukset

It is preferable to have basic drawing knowledge on the 3rd projection method and to have basic spreadsheet or document software skills on PC.
