Objective

On completion of the course, the student is able to comunicate efficiently in their studies and work in the construction field. The student is familiar with the basics of obtaining information from various sources, is able to write texts common in the field and to follow the conventions of written language. The student is able to write job application documents and tell about their skills in a job interview. The student is able to explain features of successful multicultural communication. The student is able to evaluate their own skills in language and communication, and they are familiar with the importance of communication skills on the field.

The student produces coherent written and oral communication when following instructions and templates.
With some help, the student is able to obtain information and use it both in writing and orally. The student participates in presentation and interaction. The student receives and gives feedback, and they assess their own communicative competence.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Additionally, the student takes the recipient of the message into account in their communication. The student writes texts that mostly follow the conventions of written language. The student obtains information, reviews and combines it in a logical manner. The student communicates in an interesting and clear way about matters in their professional field. The student gives constructive feedback to others, and uses the feedback they receive to improve their communicative skills. The student assesses and validates their own assessment of their communicative skills, and sets targets to the development of the skills.

Additionally, in communication situations in their professional field, the student uses convincing and effective means to communicate about field-related matters. The student writes professional and polished field-related texts. The student obtains versatile information independently from various sources, compares and combines the information, as well as expresses their own thoughts. The student is able to suggest ways to improve their professional communication skills.
