Objective
After the course the student can:
• Outline the three dimensional form of the female body and its effect on the two dimensional pattern.
• Compare different shapes and details of women’s wear
• Compare the shaped and drawn patterns with each other.
• Understand the effect forms and patterns have on how the garment fits and functions.
Content
Shaping various female garments and their details taking into account different materials. Observing two dimensional shaping. Familiarizing oneself with shaped patterns and comparing the results. Writing a learning journal, in which the shaping exercises, shapes of the pieces and gained learning experiences are discussed.

- Prerequisite: Sufficient command of Finnish language to follow and complete studies in higher education level.
- The completion of the course requires that the student participates in teaching and exercises on the Arabia campus and returns the set assignments successfully.
- Metropolia degree students sign up for the course through their own ePSP.
- In the quota of Metropolia degree students, the students of Fashion and Clothing and of Textile Design have the priority.
- Information on accreditation of the course Basics of Women's Wear Draping (5 cr) in the Metropolia degree programme in Fashion and Clothing (BA level) is available from the teacher. Students of other degree programmes can agree on the RPL procedure in their own programmes.
