Objective

After completion of this course the student will
- understand the role of satellite positioning in geographic information data collection
- know ways to perform satellite positioning, navigation and measurements
After completion of this course the student will be able to
- plan, perform observations, calculate, adjust, document and evaluate relative static satellite measurements
- use real time satellite positioning and navigation systems
Student is able to use different kind of surveying methods in real mapping project (field training)

Content

The theoretical basis of satellite measurements. Satellite constellations. Coordinate systems and transformations. The methods and use of satellite positioning and navigation. Geodetic relative static ground control network measurements. Kinematic and real time methods, GPS, GLONASS, Galileo. Satellite measurement processes and quality assurance. Use of VRS. Calculations and adjustments of relative static satellite measurements. Real time and post processed positioning error propagation.
Field training week.

Evaluation scale

0-5
