Objective

The student will be familiar with old construction methods and structures, as well as the methods of examining the condition of old structures and systems in order to decide on their preservation or renovation.
Students are able to describe the condition assessment and condition surveys procedures and to understand their role in repair decisions regarding

Content

Existing building services systems from different areas, older methods of installation, older fittings and their replacement with newer ones, condition surveys and the like, implementing public rules and regulations on renovations, contracting for renovations, special requirements due to the older architectural features.

The student recognises the fundamental concepts and methods associated with the course and is able to solve simple problems.
