Objective

Somatic dysfunction
After the study unit, students are able to apply the concept of somatic dysfunction to disorders of the spine, hip and limbs. They are capable of combining the findings emerged from the anamnesis, observation and palpation with their examination. Students identify and determine changes of the muscle tone as well as muscle- and joint-related pains. Students can also explain the pathogenetic mechanism of referred pain of the internal organs and are familiar with their projection areas.
Pain 1 cr
Students understand pain as a physical, mental and social phenomenon. They recognise the injuries and diseases most commonly causing pain as well as understand the possibilities of osteopathy in managing and treating various pains. Students have a basic knowledge of the epidemiology of pain, special features of pain in various age groups and the classification of pain. They know how to recognise different pains and develop their theoretical competence to treat pain independently.
Physiatrics 1 cr
Students are familiar with the most common musculoskeletal diseases, states of pain and traumas of patients in various age groups from the perspective of physiatrics. They master the main features of examining the most common musculoskeletal problems and illnesses as well as understand the potential of osteopathy as part of the treatment.
