    Learning outcomes of the course
    Students will learn the importance of the strategic objectives in old age politics on the international, national and municipal levels for the development and planning of elderly care. They will recognise how these strategic objectives are connected to health, and the elderly and their relatives as clients of social, health care and rehabilitation services.
    Students will identify the key services for the elderly, social security for the elderly, and their relevant legislation. They will learn about formulating care, rehabilitation and service plans and the importance of recording them for the arranging of elderly care and services.
    Course contents
    Objectives and means of welfare society and ageing policy (international and national strategies and quality recommendations). Age discrimination and its influence on the status of the elderly in society. Services for the elderly, social security for the elderly and legislation. Public and private organisations serving the elderly, as well as third sector services. The structure and recording of rehabilitative, care and service plans.
