Objective

After completing this course, the students know the demands of professional communication and how to capture data. They know the process of how to outline and share data. The students will be able to write an essay and make a professional presentation, which relates to their own business. The students are able to evaluate their know-how and give constructive feedback. The students know the concept of teamwork and master the basics of project communication. The students can act in an appropriate and accomplished way in communication and interaction situations of working life. They know how to take into account the receiver, the situation and the requirements of the field. They can communicate in a structured, understandable and convincing manner.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is able to identify her/his own communication characteristics based on instructions and feedback. The student recognises the components of the communication process.
The student participates in interaction situations in the community. She/he receives and gives feedback. The student is able to identify the characteristics of interaction situations in the community.
The student writes messages based on instructions and models. The student is able to gather information based on instructions and to use it in her/his own work.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student is able to evaluate her/his communication skills and to set development objectives for her/his communication. The student acts in a target-oriented way in business interaction situations. The student knows the importance of internal and external communication. She/he listens, observes and interprets messages appropriately.
The student's professional communication is structured, understandable and interesting. The student is able to adjust her/his messages depending on the receiver and the situation. The student is able to justify her/his views.
The student gathers information on her/his field of business and is able to use it critically. The student is able to create a target-oriented written, verbal or visual presentation to a target audience. The student is able to utilise her/his knowledge on different text types respecting the language use guidelines.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student is willing and able to develop her/his Finnish language and communication skills as part of her/his expertise. The student is able to communicate in an appropriate, creative and personal way.
The student uses different means of communication creatively and utilises different communication channels in an appropriate way in internal and external communication situations of the community. The student argues proficiently and shows, shares and builds expertise in the community.
The student gathers information independently and professionally to create new knowledge or new perspectives. The student uses language creatively and according to professional language practices and guidelines.
