Objective
- Student will know the development of different textile techniques from antiquity to present.
- Student will understand the connection of development of techniques related to the other culture of period in question.
- Student will know the aspect and overview of the history of textile art and textile industry.
- Student will understand the meaning of textile history for the future.
Content
- History of hand made and industrially manufactured textiles
- Development and diversity of textile art from antiquity to present
- Development of equipment used in textile manufacture
- History of weaving, embroidery and other textile decoration techniques

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student has often been absent from the teaching sessions.
Activity during the teaching sessions and rehearsals has been unsatisfactory. The capacity to form a picture of the basics of the topic is limited.
The student does not work independently and needs a lot of further guidance from the teacher. The student has not given attention to the subject, and he/she does not have a clear overall understanding of the subject.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student has taken part in most teaching sessions and projects and his/her activity on the course has been good.
The studies have proceeded consistently. The student is able to understand the basic topics of the course.
The student works independently but there is still some need for further guidance from the teacher. The student has given enough attention for the subject and has an overall understanding of the subject.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The course objectives have been achieved in a competent manner. Student has taken actively and constructively part to the teaching and learning assignments.
Student masters the motifs of the course and prerequisites and is able to apply theoretical studies to a practical work.
The student works independently enough. Student is able to master the whole of subject both in theory and practice.
