Objective
The student knows the essential features of the Finnish art and architecture. The student knows the works of most prominent Finnish artists. The student understands the connection between modern art and culture and the art and culture of the past. The student understands the relations between Nordic and Russian art and culture and the history of Finnish art and culture. The student is able to understand and evaluate her/his own professional activities in the context of the history of art and culture. The student knows the history and the use of materials his/her own field of conservation specifically in the Finnish context.

The essential history of Finnish art, architecture and design
The major movements and leading persons in Finnish art, architecture and design
Historical, cultural and social context of art in Finland.
Art and Finnish national identity.
Development of the use and production of materials of the specific conservation field.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student has often been absent from the teaching sessions. Activity during the teaching sessions and rehearsals has been unsatisfactory. The capacity to form a picture of the basics of the topic is limited. The student does not work independently and needs a lot of further guidance from the teacher. The student has not given attention to the subject, and he/she does not have a clear overall understanding of the subject.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The student has taken part in most teaching sessions and projects and his/her activity on the course has been good.
The studies have proceeded consistently. The student is able to understand the basic topics of the course.
The student works independently but there is still some need for further guidance from the teacher. The student has given enough attention for the subject and has an overall understanding of the subject.

The student has achieved the course objectives fully. The student has taken actively and constructively part in the teaching and the project.
