Objective
Screenwriting:
Students know the conventions of storytelling in film and television. They are familiar with the classic structure of a story and they can apply it film and television storytelling. Students know the key dramaturgic concepts of the classic story structure. They are able to analyze the content and dramatic composition of a story. They know the format and structural principles of a fiction film script. Students are able to justify the choices they make in story development.
Production Management:
Students know the production process and the main job titles and job descriptions in film and television projects. Students know the filming practices at Metropolia. Students know the copyright owners in film production.
Practice Project:
Students are able to generate ideas for the content and execution of a practice project.

Screenwriting:
- Conventions of film and television storytelling
- Classic three-act structure
- Dramaturgic tools
- Meaning of a character’s arc in the story
- Character archetypes
- Key terminology of film and television storytelling
- Developing an idea for a screenplay to be produced in the Audiovisual Project
Production Management:
- Production process and filming practices
- Job titles and job descriptions
- Copyright in film
Practice Project:
- Developing an idea for a short practice project
