Objective

The student will be familiar with the main actors and principles of activity of the third sector of culture in his/her own area of specialization and will gain a understanding of the significance of the third sector, the extent of its activities and opportunities for future development. The student will be familiar with the principles, life-span, limitations and legalization of association activities.

- Finnish associations involved in cultural management
- The work of international organizations
- Recreation
- The significance of voluntary work
- Establishing an association, meeting procedures in association
- Legislation applying to associations
- The financial management of associations

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student knows the key actors on the third sector especially on his/her specialization area of culture. The student knows how to found an association as well as the basics of organizing the activities of the association.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

The student knows the key actors on the third sector and understands the significance of the third sector, the extent of its activities and the opportunities for the future development. The student knows how to establish an association, how to organize the activities in practice. The student knows well the basics of the legislation applying to associations.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

The student knows the key actors on the third sector especially on his/her specialization area of culture. The student understands his/her own role as a developer of the field of culture. The student is familiar with the basics of association based work and acknowledges its possibilities and limitations.
