Objective
The student is able to explain the main aetiological factors of illnesses at the cellular and tissue level, structural changes at the cellular level related to illnesses, the general regularities of recovery and the main pathological research methods. The student is able to explain the central general illnesses, their causes and symptoms. S/he is able to explain and justify the effect of general illnesses on oral health and oral health care work. S/he is able to present the reciprocal connection of oral diseases and general health. The student can explain the pharmacology and pharmacodynamics of pharmacotherapy. S/he is able to carry out medical treatment of different groups of patients safely.
The student can use the first-aid medicines and equipment of an oral health care teaching clinic. The student is able to function in emergency situations, and s/he is motivated to maintain his/her first aid skills. S/he recognizes the most common seizures and is able to alert additional help. S/he is also familiar with the action plans of emergency health care.
