Personal Career Development and Changing Professional RolesLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

Students are aware of, and understand, their own professional background, goals, strengths and professional identity. Students recognise their own skills and are aware of their own expectations regarding their studies and professional future. Students understand the different professional aspects of being a musician or pedagogue and also recognise social dimensions of their personal professional activities. Students understand how the professional possibilities and goals in the field of music have changed. Students are able to identify their own future prospects and choices as music professionals.

Content

Different professional roles of musicians and pedagogues and changes occurring in those roles. How changes in the labour market affect the student’s own professional identity. Review and reflection of the student’s professional career and documentation (e.g. creation of a portfolio or web site etc.). The course is also linked to the individual study plan process.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Evaluation focuses on course work, knowledge acquired by the end of the course and achievement of the course objectives.
