Objective
The student knows the role of food product development in the food Industry. S/he is familiar with the various stages of product development and understands the significance of project management.
Content
1. The significance of product development in the food field. The stages of food product development (from the idea to the product) and project management.
2. The sense of responsibility and the ability to co-operate with other team members.
3. The documentation and reporting of the product development project.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
1. The student is able to describe why and how food product development is carried out by the food industry. The student can manage the practical development work by following the obtained instructions.
2. The student is a responsible team player who is able to take the strengths of the team members into account.
3. The student can document and report the stages of the development work.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
1. The student can describe why and how there is product development in the food business. The student knows (both by himself and as a part of the product development group) how to choose proper principles justifiably in different steps of product development process.
2. The student knows how to work as an active member of the product development team. The student knows how to raise his/her own ideas but he/she also knows how to take into consideration others ideas as well.
3. The student knows that making documents and reports is a part of product development process. He/she also can draw conclusions using the knowledge of the documents.

1. The student can apply and evaluate critically different steps and solutions of product development process. He/she can work innovatively as aimed.
2. The student knows how to work initiatively and likes to take responsibility of the work. He/she knows how to develop and reform the work of the product development team.
3. The student can report clearly and with arguments the results of the product development process. He/she can use the knowledge documented in the different steps of product development process.
