Objective

Adhesives and their use in conservation

- The student knows different adhesives used in conservation, their properties and application
- The student knows how to test adhesives for the use of textile conservation
- The student is able to choose an appropriate adhesive and method of application
- The student knows how to prepare different adhesive coated supports
- The student's knowledge of adhesives is increased through practical research
- The student is able to apply the learnt knowledge in practical conservation work

Content

The aim of advanced studies is to increase the student's knowledge of adhesives with a comparative study. The study will contain a problem connected to remedial conservation linked to the use of adhesives on the object in question. The study may also be comparative research on the behaviour of adhesives. The student is expected to provide the object for conservation himself/herself.

During the course practical testing of adhesives is carried out, depending on the student's knowledge.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Completing the course with a pass grade requires that a student has met the objectives of the course as defined in the course implementation
