Objective

The students will become familiar with the user-centred design process, and with markup and page description language basics that are used in web site production, and will also be able to make online publications. The students will also learn about the principles of visual and user interface design. They will become familiar with media work practices, have an understanding of the media field and can follow changes in it.

- Principles of composition and use of images
- Media work content and operating models
- Basic project management
- Fundamentals of concepting and user studies

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Completing the course with a pass grade requires that a student has met the objectives of the course as defined in the course implementation. Grade depends on following aspects:
- participation activity in classes
- self-direction and activity in studies
- communication skills
- returning the assignments in time
- ability to take usability and accessibility of service into account
- ability to produce appropriate concept documents
- command of markup languages
- reflection and material acquisition skills

The course consists of the following components:
- Online publishing basics 3 cp
- Introduction to visual and user interface design 3 cp
- Communication and media work 3 cp
- Production and conception 1, 3 cp


The course will be taught in Finnish.
