Basics of Web PublishingLaajuus (5 ECTS)

Objective

At the end of the course, the students will understand the multiplicity of electronic media and can apply various elements to it. They will be familiar with the history of Internet and how it works. They will also be able to compile any necessary project documentation and will know how a web site is designed with respect to the customer and target group. They will know the properties, pros and cons and potential of web communication and will be able to prepare images and other material for electronic media, and to prepare, publish and update a web site.

Content

- History, operating principles and potential of the Internet
- Image editing for electronic media
- Web site design and the preparation, compiling and publication of material using an editor
- Markup and page-description language basics
- Project stages from specification to planning, implementation, testing and publication from the viewpoint of design and communication
- Project documentation.
