Objective
The goal is to develop improvisation skills with versatile musical expression. In order to create self-assurance and maintain long musical line, the exercises help the musician to break away from the mechanical habits in thinking musically and playing an instrument.
Content
The course contains exercises for training improvisation skills. The student develops attention, instrumental skills and emotional expression. The musical improvisation will be applied as part of the dramatic, visual, and kinesthetic expression and in pedagogical work. In addition to improvisation skills, the course contains exercises for conducting group improvisation with discussions and reflection on psychological questions concerning teaching and musical development.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
A performance that meets the minimum criteria, but no more. The candidate demonstrates a very limited degree of judgement and independent thinking.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
A good performance in most areas. The candidate demonstrates a reasonable degree of judgement and independent thinking in the most important areas.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
An excellent performance, clearly outstanding. The candidate demonstrates excellent judgement and a high degree of independent thinking.
Further information
The object of the course is an improvisation performance, maximum 30min containing both solo and group work.
The condition of acceptance for the student:
- presence at the rehearsals privately and in a group
- maintains independent working hours
- sustains concentration during improvisation
- produces diversified emotional expression
- is flexible and listens during group work
- is able to create a dramatic line and internal tensions in music
- controls time
- understands and creates musical shape
- is able to conduct an impro-orchestra
- contextualizes the musical expression by improvisation
