History of Drama 2Laajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

The student becomes familiar with the evolution of modern Western drama and the main currents of theatrical thinking from the early 20th century to the present. The student also gets acquainted with the evolution and modern forms of other art forms such as opera, modern dance, and performance art.

Content

The course covers modernism in theatre as well as the possibilities of new forms of performance with respect to the history of performing arts, theatre spaces, and the different elements of performances. The course includes a lecture series and assignments and can be partly implemented as e-learning.
