Objective
After completing the course, student can create valid game ideas, create a concept for them and understand what makes a good game or a game idea and knows methods how to improve their game design.
Outcome from the course is completion of multiple very educational exercises. Main output is your game concept created by the Game Design Canvas tool.
Content
Game Design and Gamefication course teaches you the secrets to game design and can used both for game design and gamefication. Your educator is a highly experienced game designer who has worked on 100 published titles and received 30 industry awards.
The course offers a very practical approach to learn game design and covers following areas:
- game design theory
- ideas and concepts and how to evaluate those
- game designers work, what does it contain
- concept and design documents and what is essential in those
- how to be a good designer and how to design a good game
- monetisation and free to play (F2P)
- level design
- game design tools & methods
- game design process and production
- creating storyline, game texts or storyboards
- lots of exercises, examples, templates, videos and other material.

Student can deliver game concept which hold game but may lack focus, can be contrabictive with itself or provides a game already created . Game concept lacks a meaningful long term goal, core gameplay or the idea is not unique or game becomes soon repetetive.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
Student delivers solid game concept, but lacks one key area in the game concept being like focus, uniqueness or a game missing some key areas.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
Student can deliver a commercially potential game concept by creating a new unique game idea that has not yet been done or identifies a gap or need in the market or just holds a great game idea. Game concept provides a solid game core with clear and meaningful goal to the player, and the concept holds the focus in an understandable and easy to approach methed. Also student understand monetisation mechanics and can create a valid meta game.
