Objective

Students know how to apply the possibilities of therapeutic exercise to altered functions of the lower limbs. They know how to draw up individual exercise plans to balance the function of client’s muscles of the lower limbs.

Students are able to report the benefits of exercise carried out in closed kinetic chain and apply them to exercise programmes. They are also able to describe the principles of spiral dynamic exercise and utilise them in the planning of exercises to reduce problems of the foot. Students can apply their client education skills when instructing clients. They can assess the results of therapeutic exercise and relate them as part of client’s podiatric treatment.

Students are able to describe the possibilities of ultrasound to aid a client’s diagnostic palpation. Students are aware of the use of fascial techniques in support of manual therapy.
