Objective

On completion of the course the student is familiar with the most common materials used in infrastructures and related quality requirements.
The student knows how to construct different kinds of structures by combining materials.
The student understands how different materials function in the same structure.
The student knows how to find the necessary information related to the properties of the materials and the demands related to different structures.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The student is familiar with the most common materials used in infrastructures, their uses and quality requirements.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

In addition to the previous criteria, the student can
- consider alternative materials in relation to a particular site
- check the materials on site
- implement foundation construction according to the plans and work specifications.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

In addition to the requirements listed above, the student can
- choose the best materials for a particular situation
- use plans on a site.
