Objective

At the end of this introductory level course, students will be better informed about the increasing role of generative AI and digital twins in various industries associated with built environment. This course will motivate students to examine the importance of modern day technologies and appreciate their application in various aspects of built environment. At the end of this course, students will be able to
• explain what digital twins are and what is the role they can play in improving built environment,
• appreciate the impact generative AI and digital twins are making in various industries associated with built environment,
• understand how AI and digital twins technologies can be used to guide planning, design, and construction of the built environment,
• reflect on the pros and cons of technological advancements and start a dialogue on how to mitigate possible negatives,
• comment on how Europe and the world should scale up digital twin initiatives,
• give better informed commentary on the increasing role of generative AI across segments of built environment.

Content

Modern technologies together with rapid automation and digitization have changed all aspects of our lives. Industries associated with built environment are also being impacted by such changes. This introductory level course will sensitise participants to the interconnected relationship of such changes, digital twins and various industries associated with the built environment. The possibilities of future will be discussed together with the challenges, as we prepare for our careers and life. This course is taking place as various industries are being impacted by applications of generative AI and digital twins. Therefore, you will also be able to apply our discussions in industries outside of built environment.
