Content

• Fundamentals of materials engineering
• Steels
• Plastics
• Other materials
• Machining, fabrication, joining and other techniques

Location and time

Auditorium

Materials

Material to be shared at lectures

Teaching methods

Lectures, laboratory exercises and independent exercises

Employer connections

During the study period, an excursion to a company in the field is organized for those who wish.

Exam schedules

Before the practical part in laboratories, one exam is organized.

Student workload

Five credits means 135 hours of student work. 20 of these are lectures, 15 are guided laboratory work and three are independent laboratory work. Rest of time is reserved for independent learning by doing exercises.

Content scheduling

An introduction to technical drawing, welding and sheet metal work and the machinery are organized in the second period. Material technology part is organized later in spring.

Further information

Own safety footwear in the laboratory working are mandatory. Rest of the personal safety equipments are served by Metropolia and are mandatatory to use.
