Objective
Students can explain the principles and modes of heat transfer and apply them in heat transfer calculations of structures heaters. They can explain how moisture transfers in structures and soil.
Students can explain the principles of sound and apply them in noise calculations of HVAC systems.
Content
Properties of structures and materials. Heat transfer of plane wall and cylinder, thermal resistance and overall heat transfer coefficient, temperature distribution in a multilayered plane wall, convection, radiation exchange between surfaces and view factors. Vapour diffusion, penetration of humidity in structures and soil, insulation of condensation and diffusion. Damped harmonic oscillator. Properties of materials, corrosion. Basics of sound, ultrasound, dependence of distance in sonic wave, intensity level and decibel scale, summation of intensity levels.
Evaluation scale
0-5
