After completing this course, the student will:
• Have a good academic foundation for other business courses within the curriculum
• Be familiar with different aspects of business in today’s economy
• Understand the significance of the role business has on the different actors and stakeholders
• Be able to understand and see the different viewpoints and attitudes concerning different issues in today’s global economy
• Have learned new terminology and concepts related to business

Businesses play a large and growing role in our society. As consumers, as employees, and as citizens we interact on a daily basis with businesses across the street and across the globe. This class serves as an introduction to the world of business and as a foundation for further business studies.
The course will introduce, among other topics, the following:
• Elements of the business environment
• Impact of economics on businesses
• Economic indicators
• Global markets
• Global trends
• International cooperation among nations
• National trade policies
• Business ethics
• The role of culture in business
• Management function, theories and styles
• Entrepreneurship
