Objective

Students can lead a service business unit profitably. They are able to network and establish partnerships to achieve long-term success of the unit.

Content

Market situation in service business. Business plan. Productisation of services, cost account and pricing as well as marketing and communication. Quality systems and other enterprise resource planning. Management and leadership of the service unit, its financing, staff and partnerships. Submitting offers and the underlying process. Ensuring long-term success of the unit.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Management and development in the field of social services:

• masters the principles of strategic and operative management and knows how to apply them to management in practice
• is familiar with management systems and knows how to apply them to work community/organisation
• develops services and the activities of work communities and service units by participatory actions

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Management and development in the field of social services:

• masters the principles of strategic and operative management and knows how to apply them to practice flexibly in managerial duties
• is familiar with management systems and knows how to apply them to versatile work communities, organisations and networks
• develops and manages services and service units ethically enabling their participation

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)

Management and development in the field of social services:

• masters the principles of strategic and operative management and knows how to apply them to practice flexibly in demanding and complex managerial situations
• is familiar with management systems and knows how to apply them to versatile work communities, organisations and networks
• develops and manages services and service units ethically and in a socially sustainable manner as well as can lead the activities of work communities in an inspiring and renewing manner.
