Students have the right to apply for recognition of prior learning. The recognition is based on the student's skills regardless of the ways the fore mentioned expertise has been acquired. The student has the responsibility to demonstrate the skills required in the study objectives and to provide the required information and documentation based on which the decision for approval will be made.

Profile of the programme
Master of Engineering is a one-year polytechnic degree that can be completed after a four-year first-cycle polytechnic degree. The Master of Industrial Management degree produces the same competence to public office as the Master’s degree. The extent of the degree is 60 ECTS credits.

Key learning outcomes
The aim of the Master's degree is to prepare the student for advanced specialist tasks in international business surroundings in the field of management with a focus on service. The degree provides the student with a solid knowledge basis in managing service focused businesses, an ability to conduct applied research projects following good academic practices, information acquisition skills, adaptation of new knowledge, the latest knowledge in the necessary areas of today’s management.

Occupational profiles of graduates
A graduate of the Master's Degree Programme in Industrial Management works in advanced specialist tasks in the field of service focused ICT, management, supply chains, sales and marketing focusing on using modern tools and methods in Finland and abroad. A graduate works for example in advanced specialist tasks or management positions in businesses.

Access to further studies
The Master of Engineering degree is currently the highest degree-level in universities of applied sciences in the field of technology in Finland.

Graduation requirements
A student is eligible to graduate when he/she has completed all the required courses set for the degree as a present student (extent 60 ECTS credits).

Mode of study
Studies are implemented as courses, course modules or projects. Studies include contact teaching and self-study. Studies aiming towards a degree are implemented as part-time studies.

Development

The Board of Industrial Management (Technology Industry, Nokia/NSN, SAP, Tieto, INEX, Metso ja Deloitte) and the Degree program of Industrial Management have co-created the curriculum of Master’s in Industrial Management. Annual feedback and updating procedures steers the implementation of the program. Competence-based point of view is taken up, including recognition of previously learned content either formally or at work. Learning technology is utilized to bring some of the lectures available to online learning. 90% of Master’s Theses are implemented as development projects for companies.
