Forecasting the Future and International Design FieldLaajuus (5 ECTS)

Objective

The students will be able to predict the changes and trends of the future and identify the impacts of the changes on design. The students will be able to forecast the future and identify the principles of futurology. The students will be able to utilize the knowledge of the future in professional conventions of the design field and the methods of forecasting in the design process. The students will be able to identify international conventions and special characteristics in the design field. The students will be able to work in English in international networks and operational environments in the field of design.

Content

-Forecasting the future in the field of design and applying forecasts to the design process
- Principles and methods of futurology and their relevance in one's own work, product conception with a vision
- International conventions and special characteristics in the design field, knowlegde of different cultures
- International environments in the product development work, international fairs
- Tuition is partly in English

Assessment criteria, approved/failed

The students have met the goals of the course. They have completed the course assignments with a passing grade.
