Objective
The student understands the significance of miking techniques in successful record production. The student learns the features of microphones, different ways of use and placement in recording situations.
Content
The technical differences and qualities of the basic microphone types. Microphone techniques used in recording the common instruments of pop-/rock music. The right placement for microphone in different recording situations. Choosing the right microphone/-technique for instrumentalist and vocalist.

• knows the functional principles and uses of common studio microphones
• knows microphone techniques for the most common instruments used in popular music

In addition, the student:
• knows how to adapt microphone techniques to various studio recording situations
• knows how to make a live band microphone setup for a studio recording
• knows the most important stereo microphone techniques

• knows the technical specifications of different microphones
• knows the basics of microphone techniques for different styles of music
