Objective
The student learns to communicate constructively and positively with vocalists and instrumentalists in delicate interactive studio recording situations. The student gains a practical understanding to conduct vocal recordings, learns the vocabulary and meanings of concepts and practices related to singing, and becomes familiar with the basics of pronunciation, interpretation and vocal technique in both Finnish and most common foreign languages from a music producer's or recording engineer's perspective.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The student:
• has participated in lessons
• is competent in studio equipment to is able to make vocal recordings
• is able to manage the process of recording a singer
• is able to communicate constructively and positively with singers and musicians in delicate recording situations
• knows basic vocal techniques and the meanings of vocal vocabulary
• understands the importance of verbal and nonverbal communication in interaction
Assessment criteria, good (3)
In addition, the student:
• is able to identify a range of emotions and is able to take advantage of that in a recording situation
• is competent in vocal and lyrical analysis
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
In addition, the student:
• is able to control a recording situation in both domestic and the most common foreign languages from the perspective of the music producer and sound engineer

The student:
• has participated in lessons
