Objective

Students participate in work carried out in home environment, assess the realisation of home care and support old people’s coping at home as well as promote their welfare, health, functional capacity and social participation. Students recognise individual needs of the elderly and home care services designed to meet these needs. They are familiar with the organisation of home care and are able to evaluate the rules, regulations and principles guiding its operation. Students are aware of their work and its significance to the multiprofessional work team and their professional competence in implementing, supervising and developing home care.

Content

Work placement is conducted in home care units and includes client work and familiarisation with supervision. Implementing home care and participating in work. Planning and supervising home care. Care and service plan. Self-assessment and portfolio.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students use the appropriate core concepts as well as make choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They recognise the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.

Students’ actions follow the rules and instructions given, and they use working methods appropriately and safely.

Students work according to the professional ethics of their own field, and they act responsibly as group members.

Assessment criteria, good (3)

Students analyse the relationships between appropriate core concepts as well as justify their choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They analyse the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.

Students act according to the rules and instructions given in their operating environment, and they use working methods appropriately and safely.

Students work according to the professional ethics of their own field, and they act flexibly as group members.

Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
