The Biology of Ageing and Physical AgeingLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

Students are familiar with the basic human anatomy and physiology. They learn the central theories and models of biological ageing and changes caused by normal physical ageing in human physiology. Students are able to assess the impact of these changes on human functions and functional capacity.

Content

Human anatomy and physiology: musculoskeletal system, cardiorespiratory system, respiration, digestive system, urogenous system, senses, nervous system. Central theories and models of biological ageing. Physical and biological changes related to ageing and their impact on vital functions.

Students use the appropriate core concepts as well as make choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They recognise the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.
