Objective

Students are familiar with the history of elderly care and professions related to it. They are able to assess factors affecting its development as well as examine their relation to today’s multiprofessional elderly care. Students recognise and assess the theoretical standpoint and central concepts of gerontological health care, rehabilitation and social services and their relations in order to utilise them widely in elderly care. Students are aware of the promotion of holistic functional capacity and the significance of assessment of the elderly as well as the standpoint and principles of rehabilitation in elderly car

Content

Development and history of elderly care and professions related to it. Central concepts and theories of gerontological social and health care as well as rehabilitation. Multiprofessional and multifunctional elderly care. Basics of promotion of functional capacity and assessment as well as premises and principles of the rehabilitative process in elderly care.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students use the appropriate core concepts as well as make choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They recognise the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.

Students’ actions follow the rules and instructions given, and they use working methods appropriately and safely.

Students work according to the professional ethics of their own field, and they act responsibly as group members.

Students analyse the relationships between appropriate core concepts as well as justify their choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They analyse the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.

Students act according to the rules and instructions given in their operating environment, and they use working methods appropriately and safely.

Students work according to the professional ethics of their own field, and they act flexibly as group members.
