Objective

Students are able to describe the development and fine structure of cells as well as the structures of chromosomes and the basics of their functions. They are aware of the aetiology of the most common eye infections caused by microorganisms. Students can describe the basic mechanisms of immunology and immunopathology. They are able to classify different levels of aseptic techniques and describe their main elements as well as protocols related to them in health care. Students apply this knowledge to maintaining health and responding to reactions and irritations related to eyes.

Classification of microbes, structure and basic features, the most common general diseases and eye diseases caused by microbes, bacterial mechanisms of infections, defence mechanisms, sensitivity, immunologic diseases, infection resistance, autoimmunity, aseptic procedures in health care
