Objective

Students know how to produce individually designed spectacles for their customers. They are able to explain the significance of measurements and tolerances on vision when manufacturing, glazing and fitting spectacles. Students are able to use various equipment to glaze, service and repair spectacles and carry out the basic servicing procedures for the equipment. They are able to evaluate critically the quality and fitting of the spectacles to be dispensed. Students are able to evaluate the usefulness and restrictions of use regarding various lens and frame materials.

Content

Fitting of lenses to frames according to the order, fitting of lenses to frames considering the limitations to lens selection, maintenance and repair of spectacles, use of the focimeter, pupillometer and other equipment to measure and glaze spectacles, and production of a pair of spectacles ready to be dispensed.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

Students use the appropriate core concepts as well as make choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They recognise the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.

Students’ actions follow the rules and instructions given, and they use working methods appropriately and safely.

Students work according to the professional ethics of their own field, and they act responsibly as group members.

Students analyse the relationships between appropriate core concepts as well as justify their choices using the knowledge base of their own professional field. They analyse the prerequisites and consequences of their own actions.

Students act according to the rules and instructions given in their operating environment, and they use working methods appropriately and safely.

Students work according to the professional ethics of their own field, and they act flexibly as group members.
