Objective

On completion of the course the student communicates more naturally and fluently in Finnish in everyday communication situations. He or she can also apply his or her Finnish skills to new, simple situations. He or she will be able to actively participate in conversations, write coherent texts and read and understand newspaper texts with the aid of a dictionary. His or her skills will be broadened on the level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

Content

Oral and written communication in more formal situations: reading about, describing and discussing e.g. working life, nature, and environment. Reading newspaper texts. New grammatical structures, especially constructions needed in written Finnish.

The student has achieved the course objectives on a satisfactory level. The student’s target language communication skills and cultural knowledge are limited compared to the content of the course.

The student has achieved the course objectives on a good level, but some aspects of the student’s skills and knowledge still require further attention. The student’s target language communication skills and cultural knowledge are good with regard to the content of the course. The student is able to apply the acquired skills in communication situations encountered in studies, work, or free time.

The student has achieved the course objectives excellently. The student’s target language communication skills and cultural knowledge are strong with regard to the content of the course. The student is able to apply the acquired skills in communication situations encountered in studies, work, or free time.
