Consultative Expertise in Oral Health CareLaajuus (3 ECTS)

Objective

The student is able to describe the special health care, private and public health care service system, and the statutes guiding them. S/he is able to describe the special needs of special health care patients' oral health care. S/he is able to regornize the oral health and treatment need of a special health care patient and mentally disabled client. S/he is able to implement the basic and intensive oral health care in collaboration with nursing personnel. S/he is able to guide patients and clients, their families and the nursing personnel in oral self-care.

• Service systems and the guiding statutes of special health care and other partners of intensive oral health care
• Seriously ill patients like cancer, lip and cleft palate patients, patients needing oral and maxillofacial surgery and orthodontic treatment
• Mental disability and oral health
