Oral Health Care of Children and Young PeopleLaajuus (7 ECTS)

Objective

The student learns evidence-based and family-centred oral health care of children and adolescents. S/he is able to recognise a healthy mouth and to complete an oral examination. S/he is aware of the documentation procedures and knows how to plan and implement family-centred oral health care. The student is capable of reflection on oral health care of children and adolescents and is able to use collaborative expertise at the oral health care teaching clinic and at the university dental clinic.

Basics of family-centred nursing
Encountering of children and adolescents
Oral examination and detection of infektive oral changes
Planning and complementing oral health care
Caries prevention and stopping initial caries and also profylactic filling with modern methods and materials
Prevention and treatment of periodontological diseases with modern methods
Practising cooperation together with students of dentistry
Use of mouth camera
Practice of Effica patient information system
Practice of physiological and aseptic working
Practice of instrument maintenance
Work as an administrator
