Clinical practice of the basics of radiographic imagingLaajuus (7 ECTS)

Objective

The students will learn more about basic x-ray examinations. They are prepared to develop their professional expertise as part of specialised medical care in terms of fluoroscopy, computer tomography and mammography examinations. Their professional expertise improves as they work with different kinds of patients, such urology patients, diabetes patients or child patients. The students will become more accustomed to multidisciplinary cooperation.

Qualifications

Basic x-ray training, Work placement in radiation protection.

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)

The students are fluent in the basic x-ray examinations of different patient groups and expand their basic x-ray examination expertise in radiography operating environments.
During training at the UAS, the students improve their skills in fluoroscopy, computed tomography and mammography processes with different patient groups using work methods that take into account asepsis, radiation protection and a customer-oriented approach in multiprofessional teams. The students also know the basics of fluid treatment and can make medical infusions. The students are flawless in their drug dose calculations concerning fluid infusions and premedication. The students are able to cannulate under guidance. The students identify contrast media complications and know what the appropriate emergency care is.
