- 3 ECTS
Objective
The students learn basic mathematical methods to such an extent that they should be able to deal with any later mathematical challenges they come across during their studies.
They also understand about the concepts and laws of physics to an extent that is sufficient for the training of a radiographer in terms of radiation protection and equipment technology.
Content
General mathematical methods required for health care professions, such as drug dosage and dilution calculations.
Certain mathematical methods required in radiation physics, such as powers and logarithms and the graphic representation of simple functions and a set of empirical observations.
The concepts and laws of physics to aid in the study of anatomy and physiology and radiation protection and equipment technology.
Basic properties/components of x-ray machines and radiation protection.
Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
The students are able to perform basic mathematical calculations at a level that will enable them to manage any drug dose calculations and mathematics associated with human anatomy and physical conditions they may come up against during their radiographer studies.
They can explain key physical principles, especially those relating to the operating principle of the x-ray machine and radiation protection.
Assessment criteria, good (3)
The students can apply mathematical methods relating to drug dose calculations and situations associated with human anatomy and physical conditions they are likely to come up against in their radiographer studies.
They can apply key physical principles, especially those relating to the operating principle of the x-ray machine and radiation protection.
Assessment criteria, excellent (5)
The students can apply mathematical methods relating to drug dose calculations and physical situations they are likely to come up against in their radiographer studies.
They can fluently apply physical principles, especially those relating to the operating principle of the x-ray machine and radiation protection.
