Objective

Students process files and folders (also being able to compress and create digital portfolios) and understand the differences between different storage locations. Students make use of the basic functions of online learning platforms (Tuubi, Moodle) and remote use of network disks. Students understand and apply the principles of data security. Students make diverse use of different word-processing functions, such as styles, tables of contents and document section breaks. Students are familiar with the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences instructions for writing papers and apply these to standard layout templates, long documents and reports. Students create presentations using presentation graphics software and master the basics of working with spreadsheets. Students use basic information search techniques on the Internet.

Content

Hardware and network environment, information management, data security, e-mail, online learning tools (Tuubi, Moodle, remote use of network disks), use of standard layout templates and implementation of an extensive written paper using word-processing software (basic tools, document sections, headers and footers, lists, tables, images, table of contents, automatic fields, use and modification of styles), introduction to spreadsheets, graphics software and image-processing, information search (advanced search criteria) and sources of information on the Internet, introduction to web publishing – home page and digital portfolio, laboratory systems (Mylab, Tieto)

Assessment criteria, satisfactory (1)
